Wexler Releases Statement in Response to Reports of a Protest Scheduled at his Boca Raton office this Afternoon Wexler Committed to Delivering Universal Health Care
(Washington, DC) Today, Congressman Robert Wexler released the following statement in response to reports of a protest scheduled at his Boca Raton office this afternoon:
"I have been informed that there will be a second protest at my Boca Raton office by those opposed to health care reform. I welcome the input and deeply respect the right of people to express their views. But let me be clear, I will not back away from my unequivocal commitment to delivering comprehensive health care reform. The status quo is totally unacceptable and will strangle our economy if we do nothing.
"Instead, we must deliver universal health care – with a robust public option – that strengthens Medicare, allows Americans to keep their current insurance if they wish, and ultimately drives down costs for all Americans."
Congressman Robert Wexler is Chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe and a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Judiciary Committee. Recently, Congressman Wexler served as an advisor on Middle East issues to President Barack Obama during his 2008 presidential campaign.
