Wexler Statement on President Obama's Speech to Joint Session of Congress
Wexler Confident Health Insurance Bill Will Pass This Year

(Washington, DC) Congressman Robert Wexler (D-FL) released the following remarks in reaction to President Barack Obama’s speech tonight to the Joint Session of Congress:

“Tonight, President Obama delivered a precise and compelling framework for moving health care and insurance reform forward. I am confident that Congress will pass comprehensive health care and insurance legislation this year. The President is absolutely correct that all Americans must have security and stability in their health insurance, and I was pleased to hear him reiterate his support for a public insurance option.”

“I enthusiastically agree with the priorities that President Obama outlined tonight, which include providing affordable and accessible coverage for all Americans, delivering real competition in the market to drive down costs, and helping seniors afford their prescription drugs. Congress is on the cusp of delivering historic change, and tonight President Obama provided the vision and initiative for us to get this done.”

Congressman Robert Wexler is Chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe and a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Judiciary Committee. Recently, Congressman Wexler served as an advisor on Middle East issues to President Barack Obama during his 2008 presidential campaign.
