Wexler to Speak at Israel Solidarity Rallies, Hold County-wide Summit on Crisis Facing Nonprofits in the Struggling Economy Announces District Events, Each Open to Press
(Boca Raton, FL) On Sunday, January 11th and Monday, January 12th Congressman Robert Wexler will hold district events, including delivering speeches at three Israel Solidarity Rallies to support Israel’s efforts in Gaza to defend itself amid continuing rocket attacks and hosting a county-wide summit to discuss and forge solutions to the worsening budget crisis affecting South Florida non-profits due to the international economic crisis. With the 111th Congress recently sworn in, Congressman Wexler is committed to working with his colleagues in the House of Representatives and with President-elect Barack Obama to improve health care and other benefits for America’s veterans.

Congressman Wexler will hold a summit with representatives of prominent South Florida nonprofit organizations to discuss how the economic crisis is overwhelming their service capacity. Over 100 leaders of nonprofits have confirmed their attendance for the event. Congressman Wexler will speak on his efforts in Congress to include aid to struggling nonprofits in the upcoming economic stimulus package and lead a discussion on possible solutions. In addition to Wexler’s remarks, leaders of local nonprofits will also share their stories of how the economic crisis has specifically impacted their organizations.
Congressman Wexler is Chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe and a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Judiciary Committee. In 2008, Congressman Wexler served as an advisor to President-elect Barack Obama on Middle East issues during his presidential campaign.
