Wexler on the 35th Anniversary of Roe V. Wade:
"On this, the thirty-fifth anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark Roe v. Wade decision, those of us who care about protecting reproductive freedoms need to redouble our efforts and renew our commitments to protect increasing infringements on these rights. We cannot afford to allow states to preempt our constitutional rights as is happening more and more often. The fact is that the significant majority of Americans are strongly in favor of a woman's right to choose is our best chance at preserving this crucial freedom. I am proud to be a cosponsor of the "Freedom of Choice Act" (H.R.1964), which would prohibit state and local officials from imposing their personal views on the constitutional rights of Americans, and thereby overriding the freedoms guaranteed to women by Roe v. Wade. I am proud of my strong pro-choice record, and I will continue to vote against every anti-choice legislative proposal brought to the House of Representatives in order to preserve this crucial freedom."
