Rep. Wexler's Committee Assignments

Congressman Wexler is a Senior Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, where he serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe, as well as the House Judiciary Commitee and the House Committee on Financial Services.

Congressman Wexler has served on the House Foreign Affairs Committee since he first came to Congress in 1997.  The Foreign Affairs Committee has jurisdiction over US international relations, international economic policy, US intervention abroad, declarations of war, and more.  Throughout his tenure in Congress, Congressman Wexler has been outspoken advocate for the unbreakable bond between the United States and Israel.  He has traveled on numerous congressional delegations to the Middle East and met with the leaders of Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Kuwait, Turkey, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Oman.  As Chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe, Congressman Wexler has worked to strengthen the transatlantic alliance, build security and economic bonds with the European Union and the nations of Europe, and help guide the economic and political development of the former Soviet States.

Congressman Wexler is a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee, where he has served since 1997.  The House Judiciary Committee has jurisdction over constitutional issues, civil rights and liberties, criminal law enforcement, immigration law, and the federal judiciary.  Wexler currently sits on the Subcommittee on Courts, the Internet, and Intellectual Property.

At the start of the 110th Congress, Congressman Wexler was tapped to join the Financial Services Committee. Wexler has used his role on the Financial Services Committee, which has jurisdiction over all of the nation's housing, insurance, and financial services sectors, to address the crisis surrounding homeowners' insurance in Florida.  He sits on the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance, and Government-Sponsored Enterprises; the Subcommittee on Domestic and International Monetary Policy, Trade, and Technology; and the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.
