Wexler Fights to Help Struggling Nonprofit Organizations with Stimulus
Recently, Congressman Wexler held a summit focusing on the economic crisis with over 100 nonprofit organizations in South Florida. These charitable organizations provide many valuable services to the South Florida community, including health and medical assistance, homelessness prevention, transportation, education, seniors services, and more. The economic crisis has hit South Florida's nonprofits incredibly hard, and many are struggling to meet the growing demand for their services.
In Washington, Congressman Wexler led an effort to increase funding struggling nonprofit organizations in the economic stimulus package. Twenty-three Members of Congress joined Congressman Wexler's efforts, and as a result, drafters of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act increased funding for nonprofit and community organizations to $2 billion. If you are a nonprofit organization in South Florida seeking information on economic stimulus grants, please see Congressman Wexler's Guide to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
